How NextHaul works

A driver-first read on the spot market.

NextHaul plans your most profitable week from where you sit right now. Here is the thinking behind it, at a high level.

Two live signals, blended

We pull two things from FreightWaves SONAR and blend them:

Most tools just chase the highest rate. We don't. A high rate in a market with little outbound freight strands you: you sit waiting on a backhaul, or take a cheap load just to get out. By weighing rate together with available capacity, NextHaul favors moves that pay well and that you can actually book and get back out of. That blend is our working approximation of the real spot market.

It helps company drivers too

If you pick your own loads, NextHaul chains them into your best week. If you're a company driver and your dispatcher assigns them, the same read still helps: it shows which regions are paying and tightening, so you can steer your fleet manager toward better-paying areas, whether that's spot or contract freight.

Bottom-up, not top-down

Freight technology has always optimized from the top down: for the carrier, the broker, the fleet. The driver is the last to see the value. NextHaul flips that. It optimizes from the bottom up, from the cab. The question it answers is simple, and it's yours: from where I am, what is my most profitable next week? We think a network that works better for drivers ends up working better for everyone on it.

Top-down, the old way

Optimize for the carrier, the broker, or the fleet. The driver takes what's left.

Bottom-up, NextHaul

Optimize from the driver's seat. Your most profitable week, first.

NextHaul is an approximation built to point you in the right direction, not a guarantee of any single load or rate. Rate and capacity data come from FreightWaves SONAR.
